According to Jeevan Prasad, author and founder of Bharatverse 2.0, the price of petrol and diesel not only affects transportation costs but also has a significant impact on agriculture, trade, industry, exports, and inflation in India. The proposed BFM-EDE model aims to address these issues by implementing a phased reduction in fuel taxes over the next f ive years. Under this model, the fuel tax will be reduced by 10% in the first year, followed by a 5% reduction in the second year, and a 2% reduction in the third year. In the fourth year, the fuel tax will remain constant, and in the fifth year, it will be increased by 2%. This gradual reduction and increase in fuel taxes will provide relief to the common man while also ensuring a steady flow of revenue for the government.
